Todd and Shandra Madsen grew up in RIverton, Utah where they were nextdoor neighbors and childhood sweethearts. They both attended Bingham High School and then went onto college at the University of Utah and Utah Valley University. Todd graduated in accounting and has worked in management, IT and currently as a Preconstruction Manager for Okland Construction. Shandra is an entrepreneur at heart and has owned several businesses over the past couple decades and enjoyed being able to work from home and use her talents to serve her community. Todd and Shandra have been married for 25 years and have 5 beautiful children, one son in law and one granddaughter. Being parents and grandparents is their ultimate joy. They enjoy spending any time they can with their large extended families, camping, vacationing, playing games and enjoying the outdoors. Their love for Jesus Christ is foundational to who they are and serving their community and neighbors is of great importance to them. They love living in Herriman and are excited for this opportunity to serve those in their area seeking refuge and hope.

Verena Berthiaume is from Argentina. She and her husband Alan, live in Herriman, Utah. They have 4 children. She taught school in Argentina and Massachusetts for 25 years. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education from WSU in Massachusetts. She has a passion for foreign languages. She has taught English and Spanish. She has also taught ESL for several years. She loves her students and the different cultural backgrounds. She loves to help her students achieve their goals and be successful not only in the classroom but in their daily lives.

Hiram Bertoch has decades of experience in education. He founded a company called The KidsKnowIt Network which had its height had several million monthly users around the world, and which eventually merged to form Education.com. He has worked with education leaders all over the world to develop curriculum, including Adobe, Microsoft, Lenovo, The Catholic Church, and many school systems. Hiram has spent the last decade working as a middle school teacher, teaching Science and ESL. He has a BA in Earth Science, a Masters in Biology, a Masters in ESL, and a Masters in Instruction Design. Hiram is the father of seven children, and the grandfather of three beautiful babies who are the light of his life. Hiram is so excited to work alongside the amazing teachers and students of Columbus Adult Education Center. What a privilege!

Shannon Russell and her husband Jim, moved from the southeast part of the US to Herriman, Utah 10 years ago. They fell in love with the west and made a home here with their four children.
Education is a passion and a priority for Shannon. While home- eduacting her own children for 20+ years, she has successfully organized several large education groups that has served a wide range of ages and subjects. She feels education is paramount in empowering individuals, families, and communities with the ability to experience liberty and that it promotes a positive life culture.

Supply Chain professional with 17+ years of progressive leadership experience acting as an effective strategic business partner and thought leader with strong skills on inventory management, product availability and distribution. Highly valued for expertise in growing strategic supply chain partnerships with top customers, reducing cost to serve, and providing leadership and partnership to cross-functional teams.

Able to coordinate distributions needs for a diverse network of customers and suppliers.Suppliers from various countries using different shipping requirements that often required compliance scrutiny.

Alexis Tanner is from Temecula, California and now lives in Herriman, Utah with her husband and 5 kids. Alexis has a degree from BYU in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish and ESL. She has taught English to children and adults both online and in person. She is currently an Adjunct Professor at SLCC teaching ESL to beginning level students. Alexis is fascinated with languages and loves spending time strengthening her Spanish skills and learning Chinese with her kids who are in Chinese dual immersion classes. She is passionate about helping others learn English, loves learning about her students’ cultures and experiences, and believes in uniting new and old traditions.

Marla and Daniel Rojas are residents of Herriman and love to help serve at the Columbus Education Center. They are the supervisors over the Thursday evening session and do a wonderful job training, serving and supporting those teachers and students on their shift.

Brittany Daw studied at University of Utah and Brigham Young University. Went on an LDS Mission to California where she learned Spanish and loved the people she served. She lives in Riverton and is originally from Sugar City, Idaho. She loves to latin dance, sing and serve. She is an amazing friend, loves to make people smile and works hard in support of all of her teachers and students on her session Wednesday evenings at the CAEC.

Kim Whiting speaks Spanish, lives in Herriman and teaches at Oak Leaf Elementary in Herriman. She is an amazing mentor to all of her students and teachers she works with at the Columbus Center. She has a big heart and is always willing to serve and help those around her.

Matt grew up in Granger, Utah and Robin grew up in Oregon. She moved to Utah all by herself when she was eighteen. They live in West Jordan, UT. They have four children – one 33-year-old, and three 32-year-olds, yup triplets. All four of their children were in the same grade due to the fact that they are only eleven months apart. Robin taught junior high, high school and college. Matt is a manager for an affinity marketing company. They enjoy bicycling, golf, and riding dirt bikes. Finally, they are grateful for all the opportunities they have been given to serve.
