Janet Christensen is from Herriman, UT. She has 4 children and 12 grandchildren. Janet served a mission in Buenos Aires, Argentina (1978-79) and later with her husband Jared to Viña del Mar, Chile (2019-2020). She is a retired teacher from both Jordan and Granite School Districts where she taught special education, literacy intervention and English as a second language. Janet received her ESL endorsement from BYU in 1996. In 2012 she was recognized with the Excel Outstanding Educator Award in Granite School District. Janet was a founding board member of the Esperanza Elementary Dual Immersion Charter School in West Valley City. She voluntarily served for 7 years on the board including 2 years as board chair. She also served a part time Welfare Services Mission teaching English classes at the Murray Deseret Industries. She looks forward to volunteering with the Columbus Community Center and helping newcomers to the United States become proficient in the English language.
